Massiah was born in Hampshire and was educated at Bristol and Edinburgh; he had relatives in the West Indies. In 1878 he was appointed resident medical officer at Barnes Convalescent Hospital, Cheadle, and in 1881 was made physician to the Manchester Children's Hospital. He resigned this position shortly afterwards and practiced in Didsbury until his health broke down. He was a member of MMS and the BMA. Massiah died in [October] 1900.
