Biddulph writes to Spencer regarding the Royal Residence in Ireland. He writes that the Prime Minister, William Ewart Gladstone is keen for there to be a residence but the Queen and Prince of Wales are opposed. He writes that he has inferred from the Queen that the Prince is not interested because as per Gladstone's proposal, the residence does not offer any political power, only a social position.
