Written from Kensington. The fact that she has not been to see Mrs Strachey though she has been several days in London, is that she has the feeling that a visit from her would give Mrs Strachey no pleasure. For a long time now Mrs Strachey's influence has replaced her own. If Marie is made happy by following Mrs Strachey's counsel rather than hers she will be only too glad. [This is the original letter and there is also a copy]. Postmarked 27 Apr 1884.
