Mlle Souvestre to Mrs Strachey

Scope and Content

Anxious to know whether she is in good health and spirits. Received the Spectator that morning addressed in her hand a welcome sign of interest. Has nothing new to tell her living as she does amid a paucity of ideas and yet busy with a whirl of occupations which left her no leisure for reading. The best things in her life are the memories she has of their friendship which she can recall in exact detail. Asks for news of members of the Strachey family. Also when does she go to Scotland? Date important as the Harrisons want to call on them at Les Ruches on the date when they propose to leave, the 16th. But they are anxious to see them and will wait for them. Has just received a very sad letter from Mme Michelet which makes her think her husband is in a very precarious state.
