Scope and Content

Discusses possible journey to England in the summer. Asks if Mrs Strachey can let her know how Andrew Colvile is as M. Guinault de Mussy, who was expecting the boy, has had no reply to his letters. Asks if they have been following French politics lately and the unexpected turn taken at the last meetings of the dying assembly. Is very discouraged for her country; with the complete power of clericalism one may say 'que nous sommes en plein terreur blanche'. Asks her friend whether she thinks M.Paul intends to send his daughter to them at Christmas. Enquires if there is any talk of a new book by George Eliot. Her sister Suzanne has presented her with a little nephew. Regrets that her fiend cannot spare Elinor; they would love to have had her.
