Writing from Sienna. She is delighted with the corner of Tuscany they are in which carries them back to the Middle Ages and they have four girls with them who want to see Rome and Florence. They left 'Les Ruches' on the 16th and went to Clermont-Ferrand to attend the Congress of the French Association, founded on the model of the British Association. Wished that both Jeanne and the General could have been there. Florence, the 14th. Kept there by bad weather; not able to go to Rome while the rains lasted. Marie always enjoys being in Italy and so is always in the best of spirits. Both of them would like news of her. Sarah spent all the month of Aug at the sea, she is better but not yet well. News of other people. With envelope
