The file concerns the routine administration of the Press, including appointments to the Press Committee, financial matters, especially the deteriorating financial position of the Press in the early 1970s, commissioning, editing, and publishing issues, reader's reports, and accommodation (during the period covered by this file the Press was housed in buildings on Oxford Road). The file includes several interesting memoranda by the Secretary of the Press on general managerial issues, dating from 1953 and 1974. There is also correspondence concerning a proposed merger with Liverpool University Press in 1971.
