Papers relating to a legal case, Evans v. Tout &other , concerning an action for a breach of copyright in a posthumous work by John Strachan, An introduction to early Welsh (1909). The action was against T.F. Tout, professor of history at Manchester, in his role as chairman of the University's publications committee and against Sherratt and Hughes, the publishers of the book. it was claimed that the edition used material which breached copyright. The papers include a statement of claim by the plaintiff, and a statement of defence by the defendants. There is also an extract, much amended, of Kuno Meyer's preface to the book.
