Papers relating to Hulme Hall, a hall of residence located in Victoria Park, Manchester. Originally an independent Church of England residence for male students, the Hall was taken over by the University in 1962.
The file contains a wide range of material including correspondence between the vice-chancellor and the warden of the Hall, the warden's annual reports, statements of accounts, copies of the minutes of the House Committee and meetings of governors, promotional literature relating to the Hall and several copies of the in-house journal, The Hulme Hall Chronicle. Most of the material is routine in nature, relating to the running of the Hall, but there are papers concerning the negotiations for University's purchase of the Hall in the early 1960s.
