Scope and Content

Papers relating to the Department of Social Administration, which was part of the Faculty of Economic and Social Studies. The Department was essentially the creation of Professor T.E. Chester (1908-1991), although previously courses had been taught in the subject by the Department of Economics. Much of its earliest work was in the area of training NHS administrators, but it also provided courses for foreign students in administration. The file includes papers relating to the Department's involvement in Management Development Working Party of the National Staff Committee (Health Service) re. management education (1966).
