File: National Radium Commission: Manchester Centre

Scope and Content

File concerning relationship between the National Radium Commission and its Manchester Centre; the Centre comprised the Holt Radium Institute, Manchester Royal Infirmary and the University. The NRC was established in 1929 to regulate the use of radium for radiotherapeutic work in 'national radium centres', of which Manchester was one. The vice-chancellor was a member of the management committee of the Centre, and the papers reflect this involvement, including draft annual reports to the NRC, minutes and memoranda of the management committee, and correspondence with NRC concerning its work.
