      19 pieces. Condition: EGR14/17/30/19 has been severely affected by dampness and mould-growth causing decay and weakening of parchment.

Scope and Content

The bundle contains 17 draft conveyances from George Harry Grey (1827-83), 7th Earl of Stamford, to purchasers of lots at the sale of the Wilmslow estate. The drafts were arranged in alphabetical order of purchasers thus: Joseph Adshead of Lindow pa. Wilmslow yeo (/1-2); Daniel Broughton of Wilmslow farmer (/3); George Brown of Styal [to. Pownall Fee] farmer (/4); John Goodier of Stamford Lodge near Wilmslow gent (/5); James Hounsfield of Manchester merchant (/6); Thomas Jepson of Heaton Norris co. Lancs gent (/7-9); Thomas Moss of Wilmslow yeo (/10); Thomas Norbury of Wilmslow yeo, plan enclosed (/11); Thomas Royle of Fulshaw yeo, statement of abstracts required enclosed (/12); John Sumner of Fulshaw labourer (/13); Susannah Thornhill of Wilmslow widow (/14); William Warham of Wilmslow innkeeper (/15-16); William Wood (/17).

The bundle also contains a draft conveyance from John Norbury of Wilmslow builder to Henry Harden of Wilmslow bricklayer, of a parcel of land in Wilmslow, 1856 (/18); and a fair copy conveyance from the 7th Earl of Stamford to Charles Broughton of Wilmslow yeo, of a parcel of land on Lindow Common, 1854 (/19).
