The series comprises copies of notices sent to tenants instructing them to quit their holdings. The original notices were delivered by hand or sent by registered post. The length of notice varied between one week and one year or longer. The notices were issued by the agent at the Stamford Estate Office in Altrincham, from 1896 onwards W[illiam] D[ouglas] Bullock. The notices to quit were pre-printed, with spaces left for particulars to be entered by hand. There are also letters from tenants advising that they intended to terminate their tenancies. Attached to, or enclosed within, some of the notices are registered post certificates, correspondence and plans.
