Scope and Content

The volumes record receipts and disbursements in the income account for the Cheshire Estates. The date and description of each transaction are given, together with the folio numbers of corresponding entries in the cash books (see EGR14/25 below).

Receipts are analysed into several accounts, for each of which columns with pre-printed headings are laid out on the left-hand pages for amounts to be entered: rack rents; tithe rents; reserved and chief rents (from January 1867); timber; Carrington Moss (from January 1867); road-making (from July 1869); and incidentals. Totals are calculated for figures in each column and each row, column totals being carried forward.

Entries for payments, recorded on the right-hand pages, comprise cash transfers to Legh Richmond (until 1866) and Henry Hall (from 1867) [agents at the Stamford Estate Office in Ashton under Lyne co. Lancs].

EGR14/24/2 is entitled "RECEIPTS", stamped in gilt on the upper cover.
