The time books record the work performed each day by every estate worker. Estate staff included carpenters, bricklayers, slaters, carters, labourers and park keepers. For each employee the following information is provided: his name (forenames are generally omitted), the nature of the work performed each day, any leave or absences due to sickness etc., and the total amount earned during each fortnight.
The time books constitute an invaluable record of the day-to-day running of the estate. They also reveal such things as the reduction in staff due to military service during the First World War.
There appears to be an item missing for the period from June 1921 to August 1923.
