Scope and Content

The series comprises six half-yearly statements of receipts and expenditure on the Cheshire Estates held by the trustees appointed under the will of the 7th Earl of Stamford. Each item contains the following sections and subsections (although the precise order varies): occasional receipts (subdivided into timber, gardens, game, ley, miscellaneous); previous expenditure paid (subdivided into Hall, gardens, park, subscriptions, rents, annuities, rates and taxes, roads, estate repairs, estate expenses, permanent improvements, game, river banks, miscellaneous); current expenditure (subdivided as previous expenditure); summary of receipts and disbursements for half-year; unpaid accounts incurred during half-year; summary of expenditure for half-year; general summary; executors' accounts paid; moneys received on executors' account; summary of chief rents; summary of rack rents; summary of tithes.

EGR14/39/1-4 are entitled "Trustees' Accounts for Half Year... ", written in ink on the top sheets; EGR14/39/5 is entitled "Dunham Massey Estate Abstract of Accounts for Half Year... ", EGR14/39/6 "Cheshire Estate Statement of Receipts and Expenditure for Half Year... ", both written in ink on paper labels pasted to the upper covers.
