      1855-1869, c.1883
  • Physical Description
37.5 x 24.5 cm, 42 vols, paginated, marbled card or board covers, quarter-bound in morocco; paper labels pasted to upper covers. Condition: leather on some vols affected by red-rot and embrittlement.

Scope and Content

Copy accounts of rack rents received from tenants in Bowdon Parish (and Wilmslow Parish in EGR14/30/1). EGR14/30/1-16 were probably compiled soon after the corresponding originals. However, the pages of EGR14/30/17-42 are variously watermarked "1877", "1880" and "1881", and the items are all written in the same hand. It is likely that these copies were made in c.1883 upon the transfer of the Cheshire Estates to the Trustees of the late 7th Earl of Stamford.

EGR14/30/2-42 are entitled "BOWDON RACK RENTAL", printed on paper labels pasted to the upper covers. Items EGR14/30/8-42 are annotated "copy" in ink on their upper covers.

[For further information on the format and contents see EGR14/29 above].
