Scope and Content

The bundle contains correspondence relating to the sale of the Wilmslow estate between: Legh Richmond and Henry Hall at the Stamford Estate Office in Ashton under Lyne, Rowland Price of Stourbridge, solicitor for the 7th Earl of Stamford as vendor, Thomas Hill, surveyor at the Ashton under Lyne Estate Office, Messrs W[aring] & Henry Ormerod of Manchester, solicitors, Robert Hyde Greg of Norcliffe pa. Wilmslow esq, Messrs Cunliffes, Charlewood & Bury of Manchester, solicitors, J. Mathews of Edgbaston House, Birmingham, Thomas Jepson of Stockport, John Yarwood of Wilmslow, John Harward of Stourbridge, and others.

The correspondence concerns the arrangements made for the sale of the estate, and negotiations and contracts with individual purchasers such as Robert Hyde Greg and John Clarke Prescott and their solicitors.
