Ms register of cases, completed by F. Pearce Simmonds, whilst training at Perivale Maternity Hospital (29 April 1938-5 September 1945) and then as a qualified midwife in Yeovil (13 June 1947-16 April 1949), including the name, age, address and pregnancy history of each patient, the date of their expected confinement, the date and hour of the midwife’s arrival, the presentation of the child on birth, the date and hour of the birth, the sex of the infant, whether the infant was born living or dead, whether the infant was premature, the name of the doctor if called, whether there were any complications during or after labour, the date of the midwife’s last visit, the condition of the mother and child on the last visit, as well as any further remarks, found together with ts instructions, issued by the Medical Superintendent of Perivale Maternity Hospital (November 1938), providing advice to pupil midwives on the admission of patients, the different stages of labour, postnatal care and hygiene on the ward , also with printed regulation to staff nurses at Willesden General Hospital (circa. 1930) and a printed pamphlet, entitled ‘Mechanisms’ (circa. 1930), relating to the definitions of the proper terms to use during labour.

F. Pearce-Simmonds (fl. 1920-1950) was a midwife from Oxfordshire, who appears to have trained at the Perivale Maternity Hospital, before going on to practice in Yeovil, Somerset.
