This collection comprises case books, registers of cases, case books, registers of visits, a book of completed forms for sending for medical assistance and a book of completed forms of notification of stillbirth (17 October 1964-18 October 1984), relating to the midwifery career of Maria Louise Bateman in Durham.

Maria Louise Bateman (fl. 1950-1990) was a midwife of Sacriston who trained and also later worked at the Dryburn Hospital, Durham.
