Ms book containing notes kept by Harriet Cater, including a list of her siblings and birth dates, her date of marriage and daughter’s birth, and a diary (12 January 1898 – 17 December 1910), covering her attendance at births for affluent families in the UK and abroad, many supervised by Sir John Williams and Sir Francis Champneys, with good details of attending a stillbirth accompanied by placenta previa and the treatment for the mother, vaccinations for baby, the use of an incubator for pre-term baby and artificial feeding, and the birth of Diana Sackville West (1906), cousin to the author, Vita Sackville West, together with family events and names and addresses.
