Individual tenements or holdings are numbered up to 110 in extant leases. However, tenement numbers 2, 3, 7, 10, 25, 26, 29, 31, 36 and 71 are not represented at all. A single 'stray' lease for Dean Row to. Bollin Fee is also present.
Dating: the span dates above relate to leases and counterpart leases only: a few examples of other types of record found with the leases date up to 1897.
The life leases for Dunham Massey were found in numerous separate bundles, the leases within each being arranged in tenement number order. It was unclear whether any particular bundle of leases was a discrete entity or formed part of a larger grouping of leases (a parcel of several bundles, say). Exhaustive analysis failed to show any coherent arrangement of bundles in terms of chronology or tenement number and thus the leases have been arranged in a single sequence in order of tenement number, original bundle references, when known, being retained.
