Wilson graduated from the University of Manchester in 1938, and took the ChM in 1952. He was a consultant surgeon at the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan, and at Leigh Infirmary. He was a member of the court of examiners for the RCS (England) and a fellow of Manchester Medical Society.
