Rodway qualified as a dentist in 1900 and was originally in private practice in Salford. He also worked at SRH where he treated jaw fractures. During the First World War he was attached to the jaw department of the 2nd Western general hospital, and undertook work on plastic surgery for jaw injuries. In 1916 he was appointed to the honorary staff of the Manchester Dental Hospital, where he was in charge of the prosthetic department, and became honorary dental surgeon at MRI in 1919. He retired from the MRI in 1936.
