Savatard was a dermatologist who served on the Home Office Committee on Mule Spinners' Cancer. He was born in Bedfordshire on 26 January 1874. He worked for a while at Lloyd's of London before becoming a medical student in 1894. Savatard studied at Guy's Hospital and Owens College where he was also prosector and assistant demonstrator in anatomy. He was also editor of Manchester University Medical Students Gazette. Savatard joined the Manchester and Salford Hospital for Skin Diseases in 1901, and from 1907 was honorary senior physician. Savatard was appointed honorary consultant dermatologist in 1950. He was also lecturer in clinical dermatology at the University of Manchester and in 1945 was awarded an honorary MSc. He also published several papers on mule spinners' cancer and served on the Home Office Committee. Savatard was also honorary consulting dermatologist to Christie Hospital in Manchester and was vice-president of the BMA Section of Dermatology. His second wife was Judith Savatard (see above). Savatard was a member of MMS and the Manchester Pathological Society, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. He died on 18 January 1962.
