Seven of the children of Patrick Sheehan, a general practitioner in Carlisle, studied medicine at the University of Manchester. The eldest was Gerald, then Harold, Eileen, Kathleen, Maurice, Donal and Brendan (and eye surgeon in York). There are individual entries for Donal Sheehan and Harold, and for Eileen (at MMC/2/CoopeE). This file includes brief information for Gerald, Kathleen and Maurice. Gerald Sheehan was born on 6 June 1889 and qualified in 1920. He took over the practice established by his father, and died on 11 July 1953. Kathleen Gillow, née Sheehan, qualified in 1926, later gaining an MD. She joined Gerald in his practice in Carlisle, and continued it after his death. Maurice also qualified in 1926, and later worked in mental health.
