Scope and Content

Letter from Margaret ("Peggy") Webster (1905-1972), English actress and director based in New York, who hopes RD will remember her from the days of the Embassy. She outlines her current New York repertory project, asks RD if he could get her some interesting scripts, and wonders whether he would consider "coming over here to be the Larry Olivier of such a company?" RD responds with scripts for Emma and Bridie's It Depends What You Mean, doubts whether he will be able to visit New York, but wonders if Webster would be interested in bringing her company to London where he will shortly be running a big West End theatre.

Manuscript and typescript.
