Scope and Content

With Henry Sherek, impresario. Topics covered include: a play entitled The Happy Man which is returned by RD as unsuitable in 1946; a request from RD for Sherek to see Wensley Pithey in 1947; the production of A Sleeping Clergyman at the Criterion Theatre in summer 1947 (in which RD played the Camerons), including the progress of the production, publicity photographs, the nuisance of latecomers and how to deal with this problem; Sherek's offer of a part in Edward, My Son in July 1948, which RD turns down; and various other rejected play offers during the late 1940s and early 1950s, including the possibility of RD playing Higgins in Pygmalion at the 1951 Edinburgh Festival.
