With John Armstrong, painter. Topics covered include: an agreement (of which a duplicate is enclosed in /4) between Armstrong and RD's Fanfare Productions relating to the design of sets and costumes for Much Ado About Nothing and The Man Behind the Statue in 1946; practical arrangements for costume making and payments for Armstrong's work; RD's asthma; RD's verdict on a production of Much Ado About Nothing at Stratford in 1950, which he enjoyed, although he believes Mr Gielgud "had studied a certain other production before he thought up this one. I wonder?" (/19). Includes a Christmas card from Armstrong bearing a photographic reproduction of his work 'The Battle of Nothing' (/14).
