Seal of the city and burgh of Glasgow in excellent condition. Pendant on a tag.
The seal represents the head and the neck of St. Kentigern wearing episcopal vestement and a mitre. To the right is a branch surmounted by a bird, and to the left a handbell, between the bell and the head of the saint is a small salmon hauriant with a ring in its mouth. The legend is between raised borders: SIGILLVM COMVNE DE GLASGV.
The document was written on parchment by the notary John of Hawick and it is bearing his authentification mark. It is written in a bastard hand, a hybrid between formal text hands and informal cursive hand. The first capital letter is ornamented, as well as some other letters on the first line, and the first words are in bookhand.
