Scope and Content

Seal in mediocre condition of Alan Cathcart, 1st Lord Cathcart. Pendant on a tag.

The seal represents a shield bearing arms: (Azure) three crescents two and one, enclosing as many cross-crosslets fitchee (Argent). Crest: upon a tilting helmet affronte with torse: a demi savage woman. Supporters: two savage women. The legend is an escroll encircling the whole: S' ALANI DNS CATHKERT.

The document is written on parchment in a neat cursive hand. Some words are written in a bigger, bookhand style.
