Market Weighton & District Co-operative Society was established in 1903 and developed grocery, drapery, hardware, boots and furniture stores in York Road and High Street. They also had grocery branches at Holme-upon-Spalding-Moor, Seaton Ross and North Newbald. By 1963 they had a membership of 2,334. However, in 1963 the Society decided to merge with Hull & East Riding Co-operative Society. This in turn became part of the Co-operative Retail Services in 1981.
