To say that as he was so good as to start her with the 'Storm Bell' by his generous gift she feels it her duty to write and tell him why she is obliged to stop it for the present. She has some affliction of the eyes so that reading or writing gives her acute pain: she plans to visit a good oculist but meanwhile must avoid all 'head work'.
