Thursday [18 Jan 1883]. 'I will try to write the Circular.' The Circular written by JB and circulated in 1883 was the subject of some correspondence (see letters of 28 Mar and 6 Jun 1883). The date of the composition and of this letter was therefore likely to be in Jan 1883. Mr Hopwood was entrusted with bringing forward the motion in the House condemning the compulsory examination of women under the CD Acts. See Note in letter of 28 Mar [1883].
