11Jan  'Mr Banks of late most touchy & difficult, poor man. He is I think jealous of the Convention business.'This was the Convention organised by the Friends' Association (primarily a devotional meeting with some public meetings for 24 & 25 Jan 1883). This provides the date of this letter. For Notes on this see JB to Miss Priestman 10 & 11 Nov 1882. 'By all means let us detain Miss Tod ... in London up to the 14th of Feb. It is worth any money to have her both at Exeter Hall and St. James'.'The Annual Meeting of the LNA was held at Exeter Hall and St. James' on 12 & 13 Feb 1883. 1st meeting, for business, Exeter Hall on the 12 Feb. 2nd meeting, public in St James' Hall, on the 13 Feb. The speakers were: Mr Hopwood, J Stuart, Miss Tod, Rev Gledstone, Mr Caine, JB & others. (See the 'Shield' 17 Feb 1883 p.29 & p.42).
