1. Annual meeting of the London Branch of the LNA on the 18 May. In 1883 this meeting was held 10 May at Exeter Hall.
2. Proposal to hold LNA meeting after Whitsun we shall then perhaps know more about the Government Bill.' (Whit Sunday was 13 May1883) This could refer to Lord Hartington's Bills of 8 Jun & 5 Jul 1873. See Note. Letter of JB to Mrs Hinde Smith 20 Aug 1883.
3.The Friends' Association for Repeal was founded in 1873 and held its annual meeting in May. Provisional date of letter 1883, early May.
