Letter from Jos. D. Hooker [Joseph Dalton Hooker] to George Maw

Scope and Content

Written from Royal Gardens, Kew. Manuscript

He encloses a list of names for the hanging tree tickets, which he would like tinted a pale sage green [enclosure not present]; he is glad to see Maw's name up for the Royal [Royal Society], though as he is on the Council he cannot help; he sees that the Crocus book is out, and asks who the publisher is; they must order their library copy through the Stationery Office; the Crocus beds are beautiful; he sees in the Geographical Society Journal that a Frenchman [Charles de Foucauld] has been travelling in East Marocco [Morocco]; several of their tree tallies have been smashed
