Letter from W. D'Arcy Godolphin Osborne [William D'Arcy Godolphin Osborne] to George Maw

Scope and Content

Written from Villa Louis, Biarritz, France. Manuscript

He thanks Maw for sending the signed form, which he has forwarded to another godfather of his, the Master of Corpus at Cambridge [Edward Perowne], who has promised to help; he had thought Maw would prefer to see the hybrids in flower next spring, but will send some at once though they are mixed up and have no flowers; the young guide has turned out badly, having stolen Jean's [unidentified] pick, and he finds that their guides care little once they have left; his guide from Gavarnie [France] sent him buttercups and white anemones yesterday, and assured him that next time he would charge more; he returns the drawings of the hybrids with thanks
