Scope and Content

A set of manuscript commentaries and notes on various works by Aristotle, possibly taken at lectures, as each section is dated, with dates running from 23 May 1599 to July 10 1600. It seems likely that the notes were compiled by Arthur Ducke whose signature appears on a flyleaf, and who is possibly identifiable as Arthur Duck, 1580-1648, civil lawyer, who graduated BA from Exeter in 1599, and MA from Hart Hall in 1602. Bequeathed to St John's College by the physician John Merrick, M.D., Fellow of St John's (d. 1757).
