Donald Davie,In the stopping train

Book file containing the collated proofs of Donald Davie's first Carcanet poetry collection In the stopping train and other poems (Manchester: Carcanet New Press, 1977). This was initially typeset in-house at Carcanet and printed by Unwin Brothers. The copy-editor was Val Warner, who has corrected these proofs throughout, incorporating Davie's own corrections as marked on the author's proofs and adding other changes. Typesetting errors are marked in red, other changes in blue and comments or queries in pencil. The proofs are stored with: photocopy paste-up of the book jacket; typescript acknowledgements and contents pages.

The manuscript and author's proofs of this book form part of the first accession of the archive, and are listed at CPA/1/1/1/27.
