Book file containing the complete collated proofs of Donald Davie's The poet in the imaginary museum: essays of two decades, ed. Barry Alpert (Manchester: Carcanet New Press, 1977). The book was initially typeset in-house at Carcanet Press and printed by Unwin Brothers; Val Warner was the copy-editor. The proofs have been corrected by Warner, who indicates printing errors in red, other changes to be made in blue, and comments or queries in pencil; she has transferred Barry Alpert's corrections to this set, although some of his changes have been overridden. The bibliography was corrected by Robert Wells. The file also includes: typescript half-title, title and copyright pages, prepared by Warner; Davie's own holograph list of contents; two lists of typescript queries on the manuscript compiled by Warner; a letter from Warner to Schmidt relating to the manuscript; the bibliography of the book in xeroxed form; and a photocopy of the book's cover. Davie's own holograph versions of 'postscripts' to some of his essays have been inserted at the relevant points in the proofs.
