Scope and Content

The collection includes memorabilia of the Japanese war belonging to H Griffiths, 4201942, Fusilier A Company 2, R.W.F; branch minute books 1975 - 2005; souvenir programmes, pamphlets, brochures and a guide relating to the activities of the Association and branches; photographs relating to branch and association activities and of General Sir William Slim; newscuttings relating to Association and branch activities and the Japanese War.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Burma Star Association was started in 1951, with the primary objects of keeping alive the comradeships formed in Burma and relief of distress amongst Burma Star Holders and their dependants. The Burma Star Association, Deeside (Clwyd) Branch was formed as the result of a meeting held at the Pied Bull Inn, Chester Road, Buckley on 2 December 1975 and the branch closed on 31 December 2005. Standards are laid up at the parish church of St Mary, Mold, Flintshire.
