Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The decision to form a Flint Chamber of Trade was made at a meeting of local traders, on 16 January 1934, at Flint Town Hall, presided over by the Mayor, Alderman R W Barber. At the first General Meeting, 30 Jan 1934, Mr D Lloyd Parry was elected first president of Flint Chamber of Trade. According to Flint Chamber of Trade Rule Book, membership of the Chamber "shall consist of professional men, merchants, traders, and their accredited representatives", and objects include "To promote the best interest of traders in general, and to watch over their interests as affected by the action of Parliament, municipal, and other authorities".
