Letter

Scope and Content

From Revd. Harold Reed at The Manse, Shebbear, North Devon to Lewis Court.

Thus far he has secured the following items [for use in the Centenary exhibition]:.

  • - Preaching plan of Tawstock and North Devon Mission 1849
  • Preaching Plan of South Devon Mission 1841
  • Poster of 1846 with [Richard] and Mrs Kinsman's names on it
  • Biography of Grace Reed by James Thorpe
  • Early Bible Christian hymn-book
  • Old Bible Christian missionary box
  • Preaching plans of Shebbear Circuit 1868 and 1875
  • Photograph of James Thorne and his wife
  • Various old books and documents from the [Shebbear] Circuit safe
  • Ruler and watch used by William Reed
  • Portrait of Thomas Wooldridge

Personally Reed does not think that it would be safe to leave the room unlocked during the dinner hour. It will also be necessary to appoint a person to be in charge of the room when it is open.

Court should let Reed know his opinions about the opening hours, and Reed will then reply to the letter from the Conference Hand Book Committee.
