Sumners, Llandudno.

Scope and Content

Sumners was founded in 1883 by Mr. Alan Sumner and his wife Elizabeth. It was originally housed on the opposite side of the road but shortly moved with the purchase of the Birmingham Arms. The name was changed but the pub licence was still held in 1987. Mrs. Bleakley (granddaughter) took over after leaving school and was later joined by her sons in the late 1960s. It was not until 1955 that women were allowed into the bar.
