St. Tudno's Hotel, Llandudno

Scope and Content

The St. Tudno Hotel at 15 North Parade was built by Thomas Jones of Dwygyfylchi who, with the aid of his English wife, Eliza, opened it as the Tudno Villa Lodging House. Early in 1861 he received a letter asking for rooms for Dean Liddell of Christ Church, Oxford, his family and servants. This was one of the first visits of Alice Liddell, the Dean's daughter, then aged eight and soon to become the heroine of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
