Letter from William Slater to Lord Stamford. He has been asked by the feoffees of Manchester Grammar School to acknowledge receipt of Lord Stamford's letter of resignation, and to state that they wish him to postpone his resignation until the Chancery suit is over, since it might be prejudicial to their case.
Appended is a draft of Lord Stamford's reply, dated 10 October at Dunham Massey. He agrees to withdraw his resignation for the present, but does not expect that the Chancery case will be concluded during his lifetime.
