Autograph letter to Hugo congratulating him on his election to the Assemblée Nationale.

Saint-Yon was a French general. He fought in the later campaigns of Napoleon, including Waterloo. Put in inactivity during the Restoration, he wrote plays and poetry. The July Monarchy returned him to active duty; climbing the ranks, he became Minister of War (1845-7) and peer of France in 1845.
