Letter from Charles Auguste Arnaud to Hugo

Scope and Content

Autograph letter to Hugo from a 'statuaire' writing on behalf of an uncle (Monsieur Morry) who does not live in Paris and who has asked Arnaud to obtain Hugo's opinion of a manuscript. Arnaud is apologetic and respectful in making this request.

Marked 'r' (répondu) in Hugo's hand.

Arnaud was a French sculptor. He studied under François Rude and exhibited his works in the Salon, but died of madness in a train accident because of his lack of success.
