Scope and Content

Copy letter to John Hughes, asking him if he is prepared to join the mission to India. Coke envisages that six missionaries will be sent, two each for Travancore, Ceylon and Tanjore. A mission was established in Ceylon some years before by the Dutch, but no longer exists, and there are sizeable Christian communities in Travancore and Tanjore. Coke hopes that Hughes will go there with the intention of staying for life.

The work will be supported by independent subscription.
